چکیده

Abstract The triazine herbicide atrazine is routinely detected in freshwaters, and has also been coastal waters Europe the US. Relatively few studies have conducted with estuarine/marine invertebrates. This study sought to contribute additional invertebrate toxicity data using model species, Eastern oyster ( Crassostrea virginica ) Mysid shrimp Americamysis bahia ). Specifically, we investigated (1) acute effects on survival growth of oyster, (2) chronic survival, reproduction, shrimp. No mortality was observed following 96-h exposure up 17 mg a.i./L, but shell reduced by 0.55% 16% 1.0, 9.2, a.i./L treatments, resulting a EC50 > a.i./L. In test, rates 5 70% were 1.7, 2.4, 3.6, 6.4 LC50 5.4 Sub-lethal among surviving Mysids exposed ≥ 2.4 After 28 days 1.1 there no or reproduction. LOEC 0.50 based body size, NOEC 0.26 Overall, results indicate that slightly toxic towards moderately under conditions. These will help fill gap literature inform risk assessment potential communities.

Expression Analysis of Ecdysone Receptor and Ultraspiracle through Molting Period in Mysid Crustacean, Americamysis bahia

Ecdysteroids, primarily 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E), play a central role in the growth of arthropods. Molecular target of the ecdysteroids is known as a receptor complex composed of ecdysone receptor (EcR) and ultraspiracle (USP) protein. It is important to clarify the expression profile of EcR/USP in crustacean for understanding the endocrine disrupting effects of environmental xenobiotics on cru...

Genetic linkage map of the eastern oyster Crassostrea virginica Gmelin.

Amplified fragment length polymorphisms (AFLPs), along with some microsatellite and Type I markers, were used for linkage analysis in Crassostrea virginica Gmelin, the eastern oyster. Seventeen AFLP primer combinations were selected for linkage analysis with two parents and their 81 progeny. The 17 primer combinations produced 396 polymorphic markers, and 282 of them were segregating in the two...

Oxygen Consumption in the American Oyster Crassostrea virginica

Acclimated and acute rates of oxygen consumption of the American oyster Crassostrea virginica (Gmelin) were measured under 9 salinity-temperature combinations during declining oxygen tensions. In acclimated and non-acclimated individuals the basal rate of oxygen uptake increased significantly with each 10 C" rise in temperature. Multiple regression equations relating exposure and experimental t...

Shell hardness and compressive strength of the Eastern oyster, Crassostrea virginica, and the Asian oyster, Crassostrea ariakensis.

The valves of oysters act as a physical barrier between tissues and the external environment, thereby protecting the oyster from environmental stress and predation. To better understand differences in shell properties and predation susceptibilities of two physiologically and morphologically similar oysters, Crassostrea virginica and Crassostrea ariakensis, we quantified and compared two mechani...
